I've been invited to have a hepatitis B 5 year booster through my work in the NHS. I feel in a bit of a dilemma because I've read that some rheumatology researchers think that hep B vaccine can trigger RA and other inflammatory conditions. My problems with RA started soon after the original vaccine course and I've often wondered if the two were connected. I'll phone the rheumie nurse next week but was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this. Some websites say it's a killed virus and others say it's not. I'm on Mtx and Plaquenil. Naomi, xxx

hi Naomi,

i can't help you with any info .. but i have to say i would definately be in a dilemma as well.

i would run to my GP first and foremost as i trust him implicitly, and then of course your Rheumy Nurse.

will be interested to see if anyone else has gone down this route.

I rang and cancelled it for now. I'm going to ask the consultant when i see her in june. I figured it's best to talk to the expert.
